Origin Story
In 2020, Zara got to visit their homeland in Pakistan and reconnected with their queer cousin, Shams. Deeply moved by the experience of getting to know other queer and trans family as well as bonding over their love for food, Zara and Shams were inspired to start Queer Mango as a creative incubator for cultural food projects. The first project was a Vegan Biryani popup hosted out of Zara's home.
Between 2020 and 2021, Zara and Shams connected with 4 more key food and cultural workers and they formed the Queer Mango Collective.
Queer Mango Collective has grown into a space for connecting ancestral food wisdom and historical art forms to channel in the new world - where queer and trans creators are able to sustain themselves with their creative offerings.

- We honor the land by being mindful of minimizing waste and using sustainable packaging.
- We are abolitionists who want to see a world with more investment into systems of community care.
Our Goal
